About Equine Assisted Learning

What is EAL?

Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) can be an effective approach to team building, leadership, communication and professional development through the eye of the horse. It is an experiential proactive approach to empowering the individual and the team to improve specified goals which are identified beforehand. Through a series of interactive exercises with the horses that emphasize the importance of individual styles and solutions that feed into strength of the collective workplace. EAL has proven to help individuals better understand the role they play, their effectiveness and their value, as participation in activities with the horses accurately reflects the current dynamics of their Corporate Herd.

What's to Gain

Horses are powerful and truthful teachers, these graceful creatures have an extraordinary ability to activate self-awareness in humans by demanding authenticity and commitment in all of our actions. It is the horse’s natural gift to us to reconnect and renew our ability to connect, communicate, and to work in strength and courage. With the help of the horses and our team we aim to enhance communication skills, intuition, authentic relations, and ability to manage stressors without sacrificing yourself/others. This is accomplished through non-verbal interaction and exercises that can transform our perceptions and offer insightful outcomes.

As horses are extremely social and highly sensitive herd animals they offer unique lessons in recognizing how non-verbal signals and physical presence can reveal congruency and commitment to the task at hand. Corporations and Educational Programs seeking improved dynamics and productivity can benefit greatly learning to and apply Ways of the Horse strategies for effective communication, teamwork, self-awareness, and leadership skills which translates into a solid foundation of utilizing everyone’s unique strengths and talents toward achieving shared goals.

In our modern era, we busy ourselves with the mobile office, career advancement and social stature, in doing so we tend to forget our need to be connected to natural world in which we live. Our hectic and sometimes overbearing lives spiral us away from our nature which then creates internal conflict with our biological need to be grounded in our self-truth. Nature offers us simple and accessible opportunities to learn vital life lessons. The horse’s essence is always grounded in nature as it is one of the few animals that while domesticated, never lose touch with its primal root instincts. Horses can lead us to the heart of our truest self, and that is a piece of solid ground to operate from whether professionally or personally. The horse will wait patiently for each of us to discover our own ways to remain congruent in both our verbal and body language.

Openness to self-improvement and growth provides a platform for the horse to present perspectives for us to explore how nonverbal communication can create discrepancy or authenticity, regardless of what we speak about. Horses are intolerant of falsehood. Without clarity and trusted leadership the horse will become disengaged (ex: moves not at all, or, too much) This acts as a profound barometer, without judgement, of our own convictions and commitments. By developing the capacity to listen to our inner voice, core beliefs and intuition, we can then relax with the horses into self-leadership. When this is established it grows into building trust, feeling safe, being inspired, and believing the guidance that comes from honest communication and leadership. This skill is priceless when utilized within the workplace; it gives the confidence that we can lead ourselves, coworkers, and clients in an open and authentic business relationship.
